WOW ! Is all I have to say about Chelsea Thai Wholesale, I went there for lunch and I think it was one of the best lunches I ever had during work hours. So enjoyable, the setting is fun, and bustling with people everywhere looking for the perfect gastronomical fix. The shop is located inside one of New York’s historical market, Chelsea Market.
Since it was a nice summers day I went for the Yum Woon Sen $4.95, and Kenneth my partner in crime got the Pad Thai Sen Yai with beef $7.95. When the food arrived I was floored, usually when I go to a typical Thai place the serving are so small I feel malnourished, yes I know that may be the serving size in Asia but we’re in FatAssCountry and a girl need to eat! So I was really shocked when I saw the heaping of food for the price we paid.

The Yum Woon Sen was full of Mung Bean noodle, shrimp, scallion, red onion, red pepper, cabbage, mint leaves, basil leaves chopped peanuts, green Thai chilies and cucumber. The Pad Thai Sen Yai was not the traditional noodles I was used to for a Pad Thai but it was excellent, the wide rice noodles were cooked with fried tofu, bean sprouts, scallion, onion, cabbage, carrots, ground peanuts, and egg.
I don’t want to write anymore! I’ll just let the pictures talk for themselves.
Happy eating
But wait I m not done yet, sorry dudes I had to pull a James Brown. I forgot to mentions how the dishes tasted. 4 shrimp pieces were cooked in limejuice and fish sauce (but that is only a guess), I can tell b/c they were translucent and didn’t taste like it was boiled in water, you know not so rubbery. Mixed with all the veggies and herbs was just the right combination – hot, sour, and sweet. The Pad Thai Sen Yai was heavier due to the nature of stir fry, but with the help of herbs and veggies it didn’t bother me. Over all very good, but enough writing you should check it out for your self.
Peace
