After the tour of the worlds biggest fish market it will make you very hungry for some sashimi or some domburimono. For those of you new to traditional Japanese food, domburimono is a general term for rice dishes served in a bowl. The bowl is filled about 2/3 full with cooked rice, and topped with beef, chicken, egg, and/ tempura, but in this case try freshly caught ebi (pawn).
Lined all over the jogai shijo (outer market of the Tsukiji Central Fish Market) one can find domburimono eateries, all serving fresh tuna, edi, among other seafood. Kenneth and I randomly found a domburimono shop with small stools, catering mostly to fishermen/warehouse workers working late nights to the early morning. I ordered the “lady set” a bowl full of raw seafood, rice and 2 slices of omelet also came with a bowl of miso, and Kenneth ordered the domburimono with fresh Sea urchin/uni – that was out of this world. I personally don’t eat uni but I made an exception since we were in Japan, I have to say it was the best uni I had.

These little shops may seem like hole in the walls but you can see more of the Japanese life style more so then the nicer sushi place. Also you get more for your buck.
Most domburimono ranged from 1000 yen to 1800 yen
