The last time I posted about Thai food I was very disappointed to say the least, and thanks to all you CAF eaters I have found many new Thai restaurants to try. Sripraphai Thai Restaurant is one eater that I have heard many good things about and have wanted to try for sometime now. Yesterday I was around Woodside area in Queens New York and decided to stop by for my lunch break, I ordered many things, I think my eyes were more hungry then my belly but all things looked so good and smelled so yummy I couldn’t help myself.
For an appetizer I got the Shredded Green Mango w/Shrimp, Squid and Chicken ($9.50), for main entrees Pork Leg with Mustard Greens over Rice ($7.00) and Jungle Curry w/Beef mixed with Vegetables ($7.50). Sort of a lot for one girl but as you know I like to eat.
The shredded green mango w/shrimp, squid and chicken was perfect with nice sweet taste of palm sugar, saltiness of fish sauce and heat from Thai chili. I thought the salad was going to be tiny; instead it was packed with Jumbo shrimp, squid and chicken- just the right combination of what Thai food is all about! The pork with mustard greens didn’t just fall apart, but it literally came apart I had a hard time using a fork, and had to scoop it with the snoop, which was perfect for getting the tender meat and the yummy juice. The flavor reminded me more of Chinese dish- more soy saucey and sweeter then Thai. But all too good, I highly recommend it if you LOVE pork. And lastly the jungle curry w/beef mixed with vegetables was HOT, not temperature hot but burn you ass off PICANTE HOT. The jungle curry does not have coconut milk, instead it was full of Thai spices, Thai eggplant, bamboo shoots, slivered ginger/ galanga, lemongrass, Chinese green beans and beef. So hot must have heaps of rice to accompany with jasmine rice and when I say heaps I mean 3-4 cups per person.

I LOVE this place and with a doubt it is the best Thai in New York, however I am saddened by the fact that it is in Woodside, let alone that now every time I go to a new Thai place it will not match up to Sripraphai. I hope they’ll branch out to Manhattan, a girl can dream.
Thanks again too those who emailed and commented with recommendations, we appreciate it all.
Huge backyard where one can enjoy the fresh air, still unreasonably warm due to global warming so I guess enjoy while it last.
Cash Only.
