When I think of B&H I think of the grand midtown photography store owned and run by Jews. I love B&H but now that I know they are marketing to the young, and hip vegetarians Jews/Jews lovers like myself, I am happy that they are keeping up with the demographics. The B &H Vegetarian Restaurant in East Village is much like the old B & H in its infant stages - small, cramped, and busting with activist.
With all kidding aside B&H is a great vegetarian restaurant perfect for the East Villagers, it caters to the young creative types looking for a healthier lifestyle/diet on a budget.

Hot Borscht ($3.50 cup) with Challah Bread is a must, so good, has chunks of tomato, beans, potato, celery and red beets for flavor and of course the bright red color. Second course was the Famous Challah French toast ($4.50) it was good and HUGE, but I think could have had more flavor, sort of bland. Our main dish we ordered was salmon croquettes ($6.20) with a side of steam veggies (optional mushroom gravy), not sure if I liked it, it was very dense, dull, and oh so mushy if they had table for the geriatrics it would be a hit.
Next time I want to try the cheese blintzes looked crispy and buttery on the outside, smooth and creamy on the inside
